Raku Set

$275.00
sold out

Raku ceramics is a traditional Japanese pottery technique where glowing-hot vessels are pulled directly from a roaring kiln and quickly cooled, creating unique, unpredictable finishes. Originating in 16th-century Japan for Zen Buddhist tea ceremonies, western variations often place the blazing-hot piece into a container of combustible materials (like sawdust or paper) to create dramatic smoky effects, metallic flashes, and distinct crackle glazes.

Because of the high risk, intense physical demands, and meticulous attention to detail required, Raku pieces command premium prices. It requires precise timing, specific material preparation, and handling hot pottery with tongs at extreme temperatures ranging from (around 1,450°F to 1,850°F)-… Which i really enjoy high risk hobbies if you dont know me already !

*** The Website homepage displays RAKU firing process ~! DAS ME ! ~ making this very set with my mentors Larry and Many more. I used Newspaper as well as botanicals & combustibles around my property from the fruit, herb, vegetable garden. True sustainability at its finest
